Ages and Who Should Attend

PARTICIPATION: Who can participate in your programs?

We welcome all players. Our programs meet the needs of every male and female athlete, from ages 8 to 16 years, and offer programming that caters to their age level and ability, from the beginner to advanced players.

PARTICIPATION: Do you have to be a competitive player to attend the programs?

Absolutely not — players of ALL levels can attend our programs. Instructors focus on individual basketball skill development and provide age-appropriate programs to help athletes of all ages and abilities. We teach the basketball fundamentals that all players must understand.

PARTICIPATION: How many athletes participate in each session?

Our programs are popular, and we feel it's important to limit the number of participants in each program so athletes receive quality instruction that maximizes the development of all athletes taking part in our programs. The number of athletes participating in each sessions ranges, depending on the program being offered.

Skill Sessions will have between 25-40 athletes; per age level

Summer Camps will have a maximum of 35 athletes per camp, with a 1:5 coach to player ratio

PARTICIPATION: How old do you have to be in order to attend your programs?

Participants will be placed into groups according to age, skill and athletic ability. There is a minimum and maximum age for each program:

Summer Camps: Co-ed camps are offered for different age groups for; 8 to 10 year olds, 11 to 13 year olds and 14 to 16 year olds

Skill Development Sessions: Instruction is offered for different age groups for; 8 to 10 year olds, 11 to 13 year olds, and 14 to 16 year olds

Strength and Conditioning Sessions: Training is provided for male athletes in two different age groups; 13 to 15 year olds and 16 to 18 year olds

Private Lessons: Individual or semi-private instructions are for boys and girls ages 10 and up who want to improve their basketball game and who have the desire to achieve the next level in their development.

PARTICIPATION: What’s your policy on athletes who want to attend a program when they don’t meet the minimum age requirement?

Athletes are encouraged to attend programs provided for their age level however we recognize that players grow and develop at different stages. We understand the importance of teaching particular aspects of the game at specific stages of a player’s development therefore will make exceptions to the minimum age requirement. Athletes must have the skill level and ability to handle the instruction and intensity of the program.

PARTICIPATION: I’ve already attended programs before. Should I come back again?

If you’ve already been to our programs, you can attend again as each program offers more basketball information than anyone can possibly learn at one time. Plus, for serious players, we will help you become a better basketball player by developing and refining your basketball-specific skills and teach you how to improve your game.

So, as long as you have the desire to learn even more about the game, we think that’s exactly what will happen -- especially if you are dedicated and serious about bringing your game to the next level. Camp instructors are committed to offering an environment where fun, learning and competition go hand-in-hand in developing a successful basketball player.

PARTICIPATION: Do you provide coed programs?

Yes. Learning to play the game more intelligently has little to do with gender. Males and females will both be in the programs at the same time. Players are taught as a group, but when necessary athletes are separated into groups based on age, ability and competitive level. Our aim is to improve everyone's individual skill base, decision making and overall understanding of the game.

PARTICIPATION: What percent of athletes who attend are males and what percent are females?

Typically, our programs are approximately 50% male and 50% female.

PARTICIPATION: Does the teaching curriculum change from program to program?

Yes. Instructors continue to think differently and challenge themselves to constantly change and improve their teaching to ensure we meet the needs of the particular group of athletes. Through our programs we offer specialized programming that caters to every age, skill level and ability. The fundamental skills essentially stay the same, but players will leave with improved skills and a better understanding of the game.

How To Register For Our Programs

REGISTRATION: How do I register my child in your programs?

Fortunately, our programs are popular therefore we recommend you register early before programs fill up, as preference will be given according to the date in which registration is received.

There are two ways to register:

Online: Registration for Skill Sessions and Summer Development Camps is online. You will receive online confirmation when your registration request has been accepted.

Discounts & Cancellations Policy

DISCOUNTS: Do you offer discounts if a player attend both the skill sessions and summer development camp?

Yes, we offer a $20 discount to players that choose to attend both programs, in the same year they are offered.

DISCOUNTS: Do you offer siblings discounts?

Yes, we do. A second immediate and any additional family member registering for the same program will receive a $10 discount off the registration fee.

DISCOUNTS: Do you offer team discounts if players from the same team register?

Yes, we do offer team discounts and encourage multiple players from a team to register. Our sessions are designed for athletes who are committed to developing fundamental skills, who work hard and look for ways to improve as teammates. CANCELLATION: What is your cancellation policy for skill sessions?

Cancellations, for any reason, after the skill sessions begin will not receive a refund or credit.  In the unlikely event that DeAveiro Hoop Skills has to cancel the skill session, a 100% refund or credit will be provided.

CANCELLATION: What is your cancellation policy for summer development camps?

If a cancellation is received at least 10 days prior to the start date of the summer camp, a refund will be issued, less a $25 administrative fee. In the unlikely event that DeAveiro Hoop Skills has to cancel the summer camp, a 100% refund or credit will be provided.

General Questions

GENERAL: What should I do if the program I’d like to attend is ‘Sold-Out’?

When a program sells out, you can still register and be placed on the waiting list in case there is a cancellation. No fee is required to be added to a waiting list. If there is a cancellation we will contact you, at which time the registration fee must be submitted.

GENERAL: What are the hours for the weekly Summer Camps?

Our 5 day summer camps are daily from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. The gym will be open and supervised starting at 8:45 am therefore participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes early.  Camp begins promptly at 9:00 am.

GENERAL: What Should I Bring to Summer Camp?

Participants should bring the following items to summer camp:

o A healthy lunch and extra snacks

o Lots of drinks (water, Gatorade, etc)

o Extra t-shirts and socks

Please remember that some campers may have peanut allergies, so please do not bring food with peanuts.

GENERAL: What supervision do you provide at the Summer Camps?

Our summer camps aim is to provide a 1:5 ratio instructor to campers.  All participants must be signed in daily by their parent or guardian.  As well, when picking up participants at the end of the day, our staff will only release participants to a parent or guardian after they have been signed out.

For participants 12 years of age or older, parents or guardians must provide supervisors with written consent giving their child permission to leave the gym at the end of the day.

Also, once children come to camp they cannot leave on their own unless their parent or guardian comes in and signs them out of camp for the day.
